OxTalks is Changing
Oxford Events, the new replacement for OxTalks, will launch on 16th March. From now until the launch of Oxford Events, new events cannot be published or edited on OxTalks while all existing records are migrated to the new platform. The existing OxTalks site will remain available to view during this period.
From 16th, Oxford Events will launch on a new website: events.ox.ac.uk, and event submissions will resume. You will need a Halo login to submit events. Full details are available on the Staff Gateway.
Malaria and other febrile coma in African children – a meta-analysis and cohort study
Dr Ray will be speaking about two studies just published in April 2025 that investigated febrile non-traumatic coma in African children. In the first paper they report that the malaria mortality rate has remained constant for 50 years, despite targeted interventions and improved treatment. In the second paper they report that whilst cerebral malaria is the leading cause of febrile coma, bacterial co-infections were detected in over 25% of cases.
