How to develop commercial ideas from research
“To him who devotes his life to science, nothing can give more happiness than increasing the number of discoveries, but his cup of joy is full when the results of his studies immediately find practical applications.”

—Louis Pasteur

To hear about how to discover the commercial potential of research-based ideas and how to enhance the health and well-being of the community by innovative approaches to medical practices, please join us for the lecture 2 in our Health and Life-Sciences Entrepreneurship course.

Do not miss the chance to hear Torsten Reil describe how evolutionary biology and neuroscience inspired the technology behind his cutting-edge gaming company NaturalMotion that sold in 2014 for 500 Million Dollars! Prof Andrew Carr, director of the NIHR Oxford Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit which focuses on “bench to bedside” translational research, will enlighten us about the development of new biomaterials to augment tissue repair and the commercial opportunities this presents. Finally, Professor Tom Brown, Chemistry World Entrepreneur of the year 2014, with 300 publications, several patents, and three start-up companies under his belt, will show us how he has successfully balanced life as a successful academic and serial entrepreneur.
