On 28th November OxTalks will move to the new Halo platform and will become 'Oxford Events' (full details are available on the Staff Gateway).
There will be an OxTalks freeze beginning on Friday 14th November. This means you will need to publish any of your known events to OxTalks by then as there will be no facility to publish or edit events in that fortnight. During the freeze, all events will be migrated to the new Oxford Events site. It will still be possible to view events on OxTalks during this time.

Three years ago, Tom Scott-Smith (Associate Professor of Refugee Studies and Forced Migration) and Mark E Breeze (Director of Studies in Architecture, St. John’s College, Cambridge) set out to make a documentary film to communicate the findings of their project on Architectures of Displacement. This looked at how governments and humanitarian agencies in six different countries provided basic shelter to refugees from Syria following the ‘summer of migration’ in 2015.
Now complete, Shelter without Shelter relates a story of great hopes, profound challenges, and varying strategies for sheltering forced migrants. Filmed across Europe and the Middle East, this feature length documentary takes you behind the scenes to hear from the people who created these shelters and the migrants who have to live in them. From mega-camps, city squats, and occupied airports, to informal settlements, requisitioned buildings, and flat-pack solutions, Shelter without Shelter gives you unique insights into one of the greatest challenges of our times. We all need shelter, but what is it?
This event will show extracts from the film followed by discussion with Tom Scott-Smith and Mark E Breeze.
