Oxford has an extensive urban forest: as one of the major landholders Oxford University owns and manages a large number of trees in important spaces. Join Daniel Holden, Arboricultural Technician in the University Parks team, as he talks about the management of this tree stock and how our attitude to green spaces can shape the health and wellbeing of future generations.
The green urban environment is under an enormous amount of pressure from human activity. This talk focuses on the myriad of benefits trees can provide within our living and working space, from carbon capture to heat island mitigation. We will then look at how trees could be integrated into the future development of the University estate to provide these benefits, from new building design to retention and renewal of our existing green spaces.
